COLLECTION
GRUVE 3
Crafted in honor of Longyearbyen's proud mining community, the Gruve 3 Miners series celebrates legendary work titles and iconic figures of the area. Aged in bourbon barrels deep within a coal mine, each beer carries the true essence of Svalbard’s mining heritage.
RØDE ROBERT
A tribute to Robert Hermansen, who served as Director of Store Norske Spitsbergen Kulkompani from 1999 to 2008, credited with making the company profitable. A civil engineer educated at NTH in Trondheim (Norway), he earned the nickname "Red Robert" during his student days, reflecting both his leadership in the Student Society and his striking red hair.
STIGER
A tribute to Harald Wang, a respected foreman and shift leader in the mines. Harald helped build Svalbard's airport in 1974 and joined the mines soon after, leaving a lasting impact on both the island’s infrastructure and its rich mining history.
AUTOPILOT
This beer is crafted in tribute to Robert Johansen, a true adventurer. From his days as a miner at Store Norske, where he fought for better safety standards and experienced both hardships and camaraderie, to his 12 years in GRUVE 3, Robert’s story is one of resilience and determination. His journey continued as a pilot and later as the founder of Svalbard Brewery, leaving a legacy deeply rooted in the spirit of Svalbard.
HÅVARD
This beer is made as a tribute to Håvard Fjerdingøy, who worked in GRUVE 3 from 1981 until its closure in 1996. Today, he serves as the manager of the GRUVE 3 museum on Svalbard. With extensive experience in mining, a long career, and a life largely spent on Svalbard, Håvard embodies the spirit and history of the island.
SVALBARD WATER
Pure, Reliable, Essential
Since 2019, Svalbard Brewery has proudly been the main supplier of sparkling water on Svalbard. In the unique and fragile Arctic environment, we recognize the importance of securing access to clean water for the local community.
As part of our commitment, the brewery serves as a critical backup water source for Longyearbyen in the event of a crisis. While the local waterworks depend on a single, unfiltered water source, Svalbard Brewery has adopted advanced filtration systems to guarantee water quality and safety in all circumstances.
This initiative was undertaken independently to safeguard our production processes and support the community, reflecting our dedication to both quality and responsibility in this extraordinary region.

DARK SEASON
If you love blues and crave an unforgettable cultural experience in one of the world’s most exotic settings, the Dark Season Blues festival in Svalbard is an event you simply can’t miss!
To celebrate this iconic festival, we crafted Spitsbergen Dark Season, a Brown Ale inspired by the return of darkness after the endless summer sunlight. With rich caramel notes and a hint of fruitiness, this brew perfectly captures the essence of Svalbard’s chilly autumn and serves as a tribute to the music and atmosphere of the festival.
